Pierce Transit is partnering with the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management to offer free bus or Shuttle rides (for registered shuttle customers) to warming centers and shelters to help those who need access to transportation out of the cold.
The free rides are in effect until the end of the day Saturday, Dec. 3. The days may be extended if the cold weather persists.
Free round trips are available throughout the day and evening for people who tell the driver they are traveling to or from a warming center or shelter.
Another round of cold air is forecasted to settle into the south Sound by Wednesday night, bringing with it lowland snow for Pierce and Lewis counties, according to KOMO News Meteorologist Kristin Clark.
The band of snow could graze areas from Seattle north through Snohomish County Wednesday night before moving into the Cascades by Thursday morning.

Pierce County libraries will also be open during business hours for the public; for a list of library, locations visit the Pierce County Library website.
