Police say a juvenile suspect arrested in Normal on Monday is wanted on first-degree murder charges in Champaign.

According to a news release from the Bloomington Police Department, the juvenile male was one of three suspects arrested in connection with two suspicious vehicles spotted outside the Target store around 2:10 p.m. Monday.

Bloomington Police said one of the vehicles had tape covering the license plate. Normal Police ran the registration and learned the vehicle was involved in a recent armed robbery in Champaign.

According to BPD, officers chased the juvenile male after they saw him approach the vehicle, then tried to flee. BPD later discovered the teen was wanted into connection with a fatal shooting.

According to multiple media reports, the 17-year-old male from Champaign was charged in the shooting death of an 18-year-old woman in Champaign on Nov. 4.

Police also arrested Charnell Brown, 40, of Champaign. Police said Brown, who fled the store, faces preliminary charges of resisting arrest and obstructing identification.

A third suspect who was in the store, 35-year-old Ashley Wells of Champaign, was arrested on charges of felony retail theft, obstructing justice and multiple felony warrants from multiple counties, according to Bloomington Police.

Police say anyone with information in the case should call the Normal Police Department at 309-454-9535 or the Bloomington Police Department at 309-820-8888.
