MARLBOROUGH – Mayor Arthur Vigeant presented a positive outlook in his 11th “State of the City” address on Jan. 23. In a 10-minute speech at the start of the City Council meeting, Vigeant said the state of the city “could not be stronger” as the city continues to attract businesses.

– Patrick Francis O’Connor Sr., 83, of Grafton, passed away on January 27th, 2023, at home, after a lengthy illness. O’Connor, Jr. and his wife Lizze, his step-daughter Michelle Courtney, his grandchildren Patrick, Liam, Colm O’Connor, Evan Dumas and his wife Amanda, Nicole O’Connor, wife Elizabeth Mannion, Kristina Dixon and her husband Matthew, Amanda Bourbeau and her husband Emile and Shannon, his great-grandchildren Caleb, Landon, Easton, Matthew, Eli and Leo, Emile, Jr. and Rene, his brothers Mark and Stephen O’Connor and many nieces and nephews.

– Cynthia A. Sestito, 83, of Grafton, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2023, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for over 5 years. She was the daughter of the late Edgar J. and Josephine (Grensavitch) White, born and raised on Barrows Road off Salisbury Street in Worcester where she attended city schools graduating from Commerce High School. She married the love of her life, Paul C. Sestito in 1960 and the couple settled in Paxton where they raised their family and lived for many happy years. Cynthia devoted herself to raising her family and making a beautiful home.

She was predeceased by three children, Raymond L. Aker, Sandra Ewasiak and Michael T. Aker; and a brother, Harold McNutt. She was born in Leicester, daughter of Alice Rainsford.
