Cabell County emergency officials said Frontier has scheduled a planned outage Thursday, Dec. 1, for several 911 call centers in the western part of West Virginia, including Cabell County.
The outage is planned between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. and will only affect customers dialing 911.
Cabell 911 officials said the purpose of the planned Frontier outage is to relocate fiber and poles for the Division of Highways Interstate 64 interchange project in Culloden.
During the outage, customers in Cabell County who dial 911 will be automatically routed to the Putnam County 911 center, which will in turn answer the call and redirect the call to the administrative lines at Cabell 911.
Cabell County 911 will be completely operational during this time.
Frontier also advised that the 733 and 736 exchanges in the Barboursville area will be isolated, and these customers will not be able to make any calls outside these exchanges.
To compensate for the additional outage, Frontier will set up a manual transfer to route any 911 call to a designated remote location in the Barboursville area that a 911 operator will be manning.
Cabell County 911 emphasized it will be completely operational during this event, with no impact or delay in emergency services in the county.
