A man arrested for opening fire on two Sachse police officers has been indicted by a Collin County grand jury.

Court records show 26-year old year old Josiah Perez now stands accused of aggravated assault against two public servants.

Police say on September 2, two Sachse police officers were sitting in a squad car at an urgent care center on Highway 78. Both were filling out police reports for another incident.

According to a report, Perez walked up to one of the windows and opened fire on the oficers with a shotgun. Both officers were hit by the point-blank blast but survived.

One of the officers managed to return fire, and wounded Perez.

Perez eventually recovered and is in the Collin County jail on $2 million bond. Each charge against Perez carries a possible 20-year prison term.

A motive for the shooting was never disclosed.
