Although Michigan reached a lull in its fight against COVID-19, health officials reported the state surpassed 40,000 confirmed deaths Tuesday.
State of Michigan health officials confirmed 113 deaths during the week of Nov. 22-29, resulting in a devastating total of 40,085 Michiganders who died due to the virus.

Health officials also confirmed 1,262 more COVID-19 cases within the week, leading to a state-wide total of 2,938,443 cases, according to the State of Michigan.
As of Nov. 24, a majority of Michigan counties remain in a low community level, reporting fewer than 200 coronavirus cases per 100,000 Michiganders over a seven-day total, according to CDC indicators.
Among the majority is Kalamazoo County, who reported 60.4 cases and 5.2 admissions per 100,000 Michiganders, according to the Kalamazoo County Health Department.
Only 3.4% of inpatient beds in Kalamazoo County are occupied by those with the coronavirus.

Michiganders are encouraged to stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations, and to get tested if experiencing symptoms, according to state and federal health officials.
