Police became aware of an attempted murder after reports of a missing juvenile who ran off with her boyfriend. The 17-year-old is suspected to have stabbed and beaten a victim on Japonica Lane late Tuesday, authorities said.

After the suspect's vehicle was identified, police attempted to make contact with the driver during a stop in Volusia County, authorities said.
