Fall River police shared this booking photo of Nestly Lewis.

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said Wednesday the second man wanted in connection to a shooting that happened earlier this month has been arrested.

Police said Nestly Lewis was arrested Tuesday in Randolph, Massachusetts, by state police for his involvement in the America Street shooting.

On Nov. 3, police found a man on the ground on America Street bleeding from his stomach. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Sgt. Moses Pereira said they later learned that the victim had been arguing with two men on that street.

After the argument became physical with one of the suspects, the other shot the victim, said Pereira.

Police said later arrested 24-year-old Gilberto Velazquez-Arce on Nov. 23.

Lewis, who’s 27 years old, was charged with the following:

  • Assault and battery by discharging a firearm
  • Carrying a firearm without a license
  • Carrying a loaded firearm in public without a license to carry
  • Discharging a firearm within 500 ft. of a dwelling

The victim, said Pereira, has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
