Newborn baby dies at hospital four days after deadly Madison County car crash, Ohio State Highway Patrol officials confirm.

Around 11 a.m. Saturday Jessica R. Ernst, 34, of London, Ohio, was involved in a two-vehicle car crash. Ernst was 8 months pregnant at the time of the collision.

Ernst struck a Honda Civic, driven by Tyler Hoover, 18, of London, Ohio, when he failed to yield for the stop sign, OSHP officials said.

After the collision Ernst's car traveled off the left side of the road, overturning several times and ejecting her from the vehicle.

Ernst was taken to Mount Carmel Grove City in critical condition, OSHP officials said. She underwent emergency surgery and her newborn baby was transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition.

Ernst died from her injuries at the hospital, officials said.

On Wednesday, Lieutenant Dennis with OSHP confirmed to ABC6/FOX28 that the baby had passed away.
