Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Stephen Reid's constant lies threaten to trip him up in Coronation Street, as niece Sarah Platt grows desperate for his cash investment.

In new scenes set to broadcast on ITV, Sarah is still hoping to enter into business with Underworld co-worker Michael after being struck by his designs, but she's soon left deflated by a potential investor meeting.

Later, she explains to her family that she screwed things up, but having told them how great her proposal actually was, Gail and Audrey are soon putting pressure on Stephen to hand over the £10,000 Sarah desires.

Once again on the spot and fully aware that he's skint, what will Stephen say?

Corrie regulars will already know that Audrey's son has spent the past few months pretending he's still successful, while in reality he's staring down a financial crisis, which led to the shock death of Leo Tompkins in September.

Earlier this month, David and Shona Platt stars Jack P Shepherd and Julia Goulding discussed the possibility of Stephen's next victim.

"David already doesn't like Stephen," Shepherd told Inside Soap. "His uncle was meant to take him to Milan and ended up taking Sarah instead, so they've never seen eye-to-eye.

"Audrey is at the top of Stephen's hit-list because he wants all of her money, but if there's anyone other than her in the firing line, it's probably David. I suppose I should be a little bit worried."

Goulding added: "I was a bit worried as [I was] going on maternity leave, so I went straight upstairs to see the producers to check they weren't going to write me out as one of Stephen's victims!"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
