No injuries after jet skids off runway while landing at Newport News Williamsburg International Airport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police are investigating an incident involving a small jet at Newport News Williamsburg International Airport Wednesday.

State police said they were called to the airport just after 8 a.m. Officials added that there were no injuries reported and only minimal damage.

The preliminary investigation found the pilot was attempting to land the aircraft, when it skidded off the runway. There were three people inside the plane at the time.

Both the FAA and NTSB have been notified.

The incident remains under investigation.

This is the same airport where a single-engine Cessna 172 airplane crashed in early October which took the life of 23-year-old instructor Viktoria Theresie Izabelle Ljungman and injured two other people.
