A first trailer for Tom Hardy's new TV series Predators has been released.

The Venom star narrates the new Sky Nature documentary series, which spans five episodes following five different predators across the globe.

They include cheetahs in Tanzania, polar bears in Canada, lions in Botswana, pumas in Chile and wild dogs in Zimbabwe, as they are tested by changing landscapes and environments.

"Fighting to protect their kingdoms in the wild, each predator is faced with unique obstacles and challenges in what is undoubtedly the ultimate power struggle to maintain their rule in the natural world," the synopsis continues.

"These five fascinating creatures are hunters, parents, and survivors alike, embarking on a series of treacherous journeys in the wild. Their stories all point to a critical moment in their lives, as they fight to secure the future for their next generation in this thrilling quest for survival."

Hardy recently starred in Venom sequel Let There Be Carnage, and earlier this year teased a third movie with a picture of a script front cover.

Speaking to Digital Spy last year, the star spoke about a threequel, saying: "These things [usually] come in threes. If there's going to be a new one – and they depend heavily on the success of each individual one, so you can't count on them ever happening again – every one has got to be as if it was the last one.

"But I think it's really important, if you go into something, thinking that one, two and three are the same... the same story, the same film. So that you don't surprise yourself by being caught out by suddenly having to do a third from nowhere."

Predators will premiere on Sky Nature on December 11.
