Fire at vehicle auction yard in Scott County considered suspicious, under investigation

Fire at Copart Sikeston Auto Auctions considered suspicious

SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - Multiple crews responded to an early morning fire at a vehicle auction yard in Scott County on Wednesday, November 30.

Crews were called to Copart Sikeston Auto Auctions about 4:30 a.m. This is on East Outer Road.

According to the Scott County Rural Fire District Chief Jeremy Perrien, between 35-40 vehicles in the salvage yard were damaged.

Copart has over a hundred vehicles on the lot altogether.

Firefighters were on scene until about 7:30 a.m.

No injuries have been reported.

At this time, it is not clear what started the fire.

Chief Perrien said the fire is considered suspicious and is under investigation.

Crews from N.B.C. Fire Protection District, Miner, Sikeston and Oran Fire Departments also assisted Scott County Rural Fire Protection District at the scene.
