David Peifer

A 22-year-old Mountain Home man who has had criminal charges filed against him in Baxter, Fulton and Jackson Counties continues to be listed as a fugitive, according to Arkansas Community Corrections.

David (Zack) Peifer was listed as an absconder by the Jackson County probation and parole office in early November.

Peifer was due to make an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday, but was a no show.

Charges against Peifer were filed during a period beginning in 2020 and running through June. There are currently five open cases – four in Baxter County and a probation revocation petition has been filed in Peifer’s Jackson County case.

Two cases are closed – one in Fulton County and one in Baxter County.

PEIFER CHARGED WITH DAMAGING CARS

In his most recent Baxter County case, Peifer is accused of breaking out windows and slashing tires on two vehicles parked at a residence in Mountain Home on June 12. The damage was done allegedly in retaliation for an incident reported to have involved a tattoo gun and a female.

PLAN TO SMUGGLE CONTRABAND

In September last year, Peifer was charged with being involved in an alleged conspiracy with his grandmother and older brother to smuggle contraband into the Baxter County Detention Center.

The smuggled items were reported to be for the use of the older brother who was locked up at the time. Both Peifer brothers have been charged in that case as well as their 61-year-old grandmother.

The older brother, Hunter “Ty” Peifer, is currently an inmate in the Grimes Unit of the state prison system on earlier charges.

On October 10 last year, Peifer was arrested after an Arkansas State Police trooper stopped to check on a parked vehicle. Peifer and another male were in the truck. Peifer told the trooper he had run out of gas but that someone was on the way with more fuel.

It was discovered Peifer had an active arrest warrant and he was taken into custody. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle he was driving.

JACKSON COUNTY REVOCATION

In early July 2021 Peifer was arrested in Jackson County and charged initially with being in simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms after a vehicle he was driving was pulled over in Newport.

He pled guilty to a charge of criminal use of a prohibited weapon in December 2021 and was put on probation for six years.

When he was arrested for damaging the two cars in Baxter County in June, a petition was filed in Jackson County Circuit Court to revoke his 72 month suspended sentence. Court records show the revocation hearing is now set for December 12.

TRUCK STOLEN IN MH

In December 2020, Peifer was charged with stealing a truck from a man living along Primrose Lane in Mountain Home. The victim told police he had been out of town and could not be specific when the vehicle was taken.

Several of Peifer’s Baxter County cases are now set for trial in early December if he can be located.

FULTON COUNTY CHARGES

On May 23, 2020 the vehicle Peifer was driving was pulled over for traffic violations, including speeding, in Salem. Officers reported finding drugs and a set of brass knuckles. Peifer is alleged to have said he was in Salem to meet some one at a local fast food restaurant to deliver marijuana.
