Wabash College to host Albertine Cinémathèque French Film Festival
The Wabash College French department received a grant to host a seven-week festival of French films, beginning Monday. The grant from the FACE Foundation (French-American Cultural Exchange) and Villa Albertine will bring the Albertine Cinémathèque French Film Festival to campus Monday through March 27. The festival is a program of FACE Foundation and Villa Albertine made possible with the support of the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée (CNC), and SACEM/Fonds Culturel Franco-Américain, the French American Cultural Fund.

A Magical Place & Time
The Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County has opened The Amazing Castle, an amazing hands-on adventure. Visitors are transported to a magical place and time — inside the castle’s stone walls lays a happy and peaceful little community where every citizen has a special job to do. Children can don costumes and engage in role-play by becoming lords and ladies, castle villagers or even “HiJinx the Jester.”

Paul Allen Redman
Paul Allen Redman passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at home. He was born Jan. 13, 1982, to Dennis Redman and Diane (Howard) Deckard in Lafayette. Paul was a graduate of Southmont High School, Class of 2000 and ITT in 2002 with an associate’s degree in HVAC. He worked at Bassett Heating & Air, previously working at Vasey Heating & Air for eight years and ARS Heating & Air for over three years. Paul also worked part-time with Lifeline Music as a DJ.

Visiting Artist Series spotlights traditional Japanese puppetry
The Wabash College’s Visiting Artist Series presents the Koryu Nishikawa Troupe at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Fine Arts Center’s Ball Theater. The troupe will present, “Akutagawa,” an international puppetry collaboration based on the life and work of Ryunosuke Akutagawa, one of Japan’s most important early 20th century writers. Tom Lee and Koryu Nishikawa will tell the story using figurative puppets inspired by Kuruma Ningyo, traditional Japanese puppetry that dates to the 19th century, as well as projections, shadows, and live feed video of manipulated objects.

Athenians and Warriors meet again in sectional opener
For the third time in the last four years Crawfordsville girls basketball will have to take on the Danville Warriors in the opening round of the Class 3A Sectional 25 on Wednesday which is hosted this year at Lebanon. Each of the last three seasons, the Warriors have been the team to end the Athenians season. A season ago it was in the sectional semi-finals and the two previous years it was in the opening round like this season.

Mounties ready for tough sectional opener
The girls basketball post-season officially gets underway on Tuesday across the state of Indiana. For the Southmont Mounties they’re all set to open up play in the Class 2A Sectional 44 at Greencastle. South ended the regular season with a 11-10 overall record, a two win improvement over last season.

Chargers to square off with No. 1 Twin Lakes in sectional opener
It’s been a learning year for the young North Montgomery girls basketball team. The Chargers concluded the regular season with a record of 3-20 and will now get ready to open up Class 3A Sectional play on Tuesday at Benton Central. The loaded sectional did the Chargers no favors as they will have their hands full with the No. 1 ranked team in Class 3A in the 23-0 Twin Lakes Indians.

Sectional Wrestling: 22 area wrestlers qualify for next week’s Regional
A total of 22 area wrestlers will continued their seasons on Saturday as all four area schools opened up the post-season at Crawfordsville in the sectional. Southmont led the way with eight wrestlers advancing to next week’s Regional at North Montgomery. Both Fountain Central and North Montgomery had five wrestlers qualify while Crawfordsville advanced four of their own.
