Laramie Boys Basketball is planning on using the continuity between last year and this year to their advantage

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Plainsmen have a new head coach leading the team this season in Drew Evans, but he’s still a familiar face as he was an assistant for Laramie previously.

Being a head coach is something Evans has pursued since the end of his playing career, and he’s been giving the team every ounce of effort thus far.

“It’s just been something that I’ve been trying to enjoy and do what I can for these guys. I love all the guys we got, so I’m just trying to do the best I can for them and give them my best efforts because that’s all I can ask from them. It’s been a great experience. We’ve got a great staff, we’ve got a great community, so it’s been a good experience,” Evans said.

Even beyond having Evans elevated to the new role, there’s still more continuity going into this season for the Plainsmen. Laramie has 11 players from last season returning; the majority of them have spent several years working and building chemistry.

That bodes well for the team’s goal of making the state tournament after falling short last year.

“It’s great because all of us play together over the summer, so it’s all there. We don’t have to restart when the season starts. It’s really exciting just to have it all there and be ready,” senior Levi Brown said.

Their season will tip off on Dec. 8.
