The day after Thanksgiving, Weslaco resident Nancy Garza decorated the outside of her home with a Nativity set, inflatable Santas, reindeer, and more

When Garza woke up the next morning, she says her Nativity set was gone.

“We were like ‘OMG they took our nativity set, so then my husband made sure they were tight and secure," Garza said. “The following night we didn't have any issues or anything, but then the night after that we had a farmhouse truck, and they took that."

Garza said the stolen decorations totaled $400, adding that her young son picked the decorations out himself.

“It's not only about taking inflatables, it's more about you feel some type of violation,” Garza said. “It's your home, and you can't even be comfortable here because you don't know who is watching or who is going to take something next time."

The Garza family put up all their decorations on the top deck of their house in the hopes that thieves will not be bold enough to steal them from so high up.

Two police reports were filed, and now the Garza family is considering installing outdoor security cameras.

Those with any information on the thefts are urged to contact Weslaco Crime Stoppers at 968-8477.
