Alabama moved up one spot to 6th in the College Football Playoff Rankings, which were released Tuesday night. The Tide, however, needs some help if it's going to advance to the four-team playoff field, which will be announced Sunday.
Georgia is once again the top team. The Bulldogs will play 14th-ranked LSU in the SEC Championship Game Saturday in Atlanta.
Michigan is ranked #2 after a convincing 45-23 over Ohio State in Columbus. The Wolverines play Purdue in the Big Ten Title Game Saturday in Indianapolis.
TCU moves up a spot to #4. The unbeaten Horned Frogs take on 10th-ranked Kansas State in the Big 12 Title Game Saturday in Arlington, TX.
The Ohio State Buckeyes fell from 2nd to 5th. The Buckeyes poised to move into the top 4 if TCU or USC slip up.
The Crimson Tide will likely need two things to happen to make the playoff. That would be a USC loss to Utah and a TCU lopsided loss to K-State.
But on Championship Saturday, crazy things happen.
