Umbrella ready...showers, thunderstorms to sweep through on Wednesday
Grab an umbrella before leaving home on Wednesday. A line of scattered showers and thunderstorms is set to sweep across southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry.Showers and thunderstorms will arrive well inland by 7-9am, and then gradually push east through the morning. The thunderstorms will be a bit stronger around Vidalia, Metter, and Sylvania. Showers and thunderstorms will weaken as they near I-95 by late morning. Some of the potential impacts include a likely chance of downpours, gusty winds are possible near thunderstorms, and the overall threat of severe weather is low.If an isolated strong or severe thunderstorm were to occur it would likely be west of I-95 before the thunderstorms start to weaken. Rainfall totals will be highest inland, with lower totals near the coast. This particular weather model is showing rain totals of <0.10" around Savannah, Tybee Island, and Hilton Head Island.Rain moves off the coast by early Wednesday afternoon. A cold front will sweep through late in the day and deliver cooler temperatures for Thursday. Here's a look at the high temperature trend for this week.
