Some small business owners in Fort Pierce calling Shop Small Saturday better this year than last
HAS THE STORY. SHOP SMALL SATURDAY. BUSINESS THIS THURSDAY. BEEN PLANNING THIS EVENT IN DOWNTOWN FORT PIERCE SINCE SEPTEMBER AND THEY’RE PLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME. WE HAD AN AMAZING DAY. IT WAS. I THINK WE FIGURE IT OUT WAS ABOUT ALMOST 17% BETTER THIS YEAR THAN LAST. WE TRIPLED OUR NUMBERS FROM LAST YEAR. OUR SALES INCREASED LITTLE OVER 10% WERE WE WERE UP ABOUT 23% FROM LAST YEAR. SO THAT’S GOOD. AMERICAN RELEASED THE RESULTS OF ITS SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY. CONSUMER INSIGHTS SURVEY AND ACCORDING TO THEM, 72% OF SHOPPERS SAID SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY MAKES THEM WANT TO SHOP AND DINE. THE DAY WAS A SUCCESS FOR SEVERAL BUSINESS OWNERS IN DOWNTOWN FORT PIERCE. I THINK WITH THE ADVERTISING AND PEOPLE ARE WANTING TO SHOP AND SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES MORE. SO WE WERE OPEN ALL DAY AND WE KEPT ADVERTISING THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA AND SO ON AND I THINK IT JUST BROUGHT MORE PEOPLE DOWN. DOWNTOWN WAS BUSY. IT WAS BUSY. IT WAS LIKE THE OLD DAYS. THAT WAS REALLY NICE. IT’S ACTUALLY MY SECOND BUSIEST DAY OUT OF THE YEAR AS FAR AS SALES ARE CONCERNED. YEAH, I DO A CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE AND THAT’S MY BUSIEST DAY. BUT THIS IS ALWAYS MY SECOND BUSIEST DAY OF THE YEAR. IT REALLY IS A REAL BOOST FOR THE DOWNTOWN AREA. AND WHILE MANY LOOK FORWARD TO SMALL SATURDAY, ONE LOCAL BUSINESS OWNER WAS SURPRISED AT HER BLACK FRIDAY NUMBERS. OUR SALES INCREASED BY. ALMOST 40% FROM BLACK FRIDAY THIS YEAR TO THE PREVIOUS YEAR. WHY DO YOU THINK THAT’S THE CASE? I THINK MORE PEOPLE WANT TO SUPPORT SHOPPING SMALL, AND I THINK THAT PROVES IT WELL THIS YEAR. SHOP SMALL SATURDAY EVENT MAY BE OVER, BUT LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS STILL NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
