The Food Basket wants to help alleviate some holiday stress by feeding the community

The Food Basket, Hawai‘i Island’s food bank, wants to make the holidays better for those in need.

The food bank will host four emergency food distribution events islandwide in December to help alleviate some of the holiday stress and feed the Big Island community.

‘Ohana Food Drops are scheduled for:

  • 10 a.m. Thursday at Waimea District Park in Waimea.
  • 10 a.m. Dec. 6 at Nāʻālehu Hongwanji Temple in Nāʻālehu.
  • 10 a.m. Dec. 16 at Pāhoa Community Center in Pāhoa.
  • 10 a.m. Dec. 22 at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo.

Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Those who come to get food are asked to be considerate of the traffic around the distribution sites and arrive a half an hour early.
