Olson Elementary in Marina unveils new school mural
Olson Elementary in partnership with the arts council for Monterey County and Mexican-American multimedia artist Sea Sevilla created a mural as part of a sixth-grade community project.
Nearly 60 sixth-grade students under teachers Dr. Jamee Lynch-Moore and Jaime Quiros had the opportunity to meet and work with Sevilla to design, draw and paint a large-scale mural on an outside wall entering the school as part of a schoolwide community project.
“At Olson Elementary, we cultivate hearts and minds to build a better humanity,” Lynch-Moore said. “This project gave students a voice and allowed them to take ownership in a schoolwide activity.
The school had an open invitation to the community for a ribbon-cutting event to unveil the six-week project on Monday afternoon at the school.
