Brown County Youth Fair was a big success this year and Brown County 4-H would like to thank the Brown County Youth Fair Association for organizing and supporting the youth. Brownwood ISD to make up bad weather days Feb. 20, May 29
Brownwood ISD Superintendent Dr. Joe Young announced on KOXE Friday morning that Feb. 20 and May 29 will be bad weather make-up days for the school district. Two days off were figured into the school calendar in case of bad weather, so students will now have to attend classes those days. A third day was not figured into the calendar, so when it will be made up is currently unknown.

Brown County Republican Women’s Club will hold their monthly meeting on Friday, February 10, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Brownwood Country Club Pavilion. Richard Harris, age 65, of Brownwood passed away Friday, January 27, 2023, in San Saba County. Funeral Services for Richard will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel of San Saba with Macy Ledbetter and Mike Harris officiating; burial will follow at Wallace Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to services from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba.

Effie Dorene Head, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, in Bangs, TX. She was born in Mills County, TX on August 9, 1933 to Frank and Effie (Hardcastle) Kerby. She graduated from Goldthwaite High School in 1951 & went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Goldthwaite. She married the love of her life, Doyle Head, on June 6, 1953 in Goldthwaite, TX and they shared 69 wonderful years together.
