Giving Tuesday is a nationally recognized day that's all about giving back to loved ones, neighbors, and strangers.
This year, charities in the Grand Stand and PeeDee said they need more help.
ABC 15 News spoke with groups like:
They all said they're seeing less donations coming through this holiday season.
While some of the non-profits said they have a lot of people expressing interest in giving back, there are factors decreasing donations, like inflation and an increase in the number of families in Horry County who need assistance.
Jess Wnuk, the Executive Director at the Horry County Humane Society, said, "Inflation is hitting everyone in a really serious way and that has impacted our donations over the last several months overall."
The Horry County Salvation Army is one of the local charities working to help some of these families through a decades long tradition, the Angel Tree Program.
Jerry Williams, the Horry County Salvation Army business manager, said there are 200 families, or more than 1,800 kids available to adopt this holiday season.
"We're trying to give them hope that there is help out there," said Williams.
Like the Grand Strand Humane Society, the Salvation Army also hasn't seen many donations start to come through yet, but are remaining hopeful and keeping faith that the community will help provide.
He said, "Horry County and the Grand Strand and the PeeDee can really make a difference in these kid's lives by bridging that gap when it comes to the economy, when it comes to inflation."
Wnuk added, "No donation is too small. If you can afford $5, we are so grateful for it and it will make a difference in a life of someone who needs it."
Williams said they selected more than 200 families earlier this year through an application process.
"If it's something under the tree, they're gonna be grateful," explained Williams. "They really are because they shouldn't have to see a worry or sadness on their parents' face; and the children really shouldn't have to worry about what's going on in the economy, they really shouldn't. Kids need to be kids."
If you're interested in giving back or adopting an angel this year, it's really simple.
You can head over to the Horry County Salvation Army to adopt a child online, or if you're out and about, you can take a name right off one of their trees.
Some locations where you can find a tree are Pine Lakes Tavern, Newspring Church and the Walmart Supercenter on Seaboard Street.
