University of Wisconsin System President Jay Rothman announces the five finalists for the position of chancellor at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater.

Former Chancellor Dwight Watson resigned in June of 2021 due to a cancer diagnosis, and interim Chancellor Jim Henderson resigned in April after the UW System decided to do a survey about free speech rights.

The five finalists are current UW-Whitewater interim Chancellor John Chenoweth; Vice President for Student Success, Analytics and Integrated Planning at Mankato State University in Minnesota Lynn Akey; Vice Chancellor for University Inclusively and Student Affairs at UW-Green Bay Corey King; Dean and Professor at Padnos College of Engineering and Computing at Grand Valley State University in Michigan Paul Plotkowski; and Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor at Auburn University at Montgomery in Alabama Mrinal Mugdh Varma.

Next month, the candidates will participate in separate campus public forums, offering opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community members to interact directly with them.
