Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A Rochester man faces 7 years in prison for having a gun at an anti-gun rally.

20-year-old Amauri Smith admitted to walking on Jefferson Avenue near Glenwood Avenue in June with what prosecutors say appeared to be a gun in the pocket of his shorts. Officers confronted Smith and recovered an illegal, loaded handgun from the his pocket.

The crime occurred during the Buffalo “March for Our Lives” event, an anti-gun violence demonstration.

Smith faces a maximum of 7 years in prison when he is sentenced on Friday, February 10.
