The Centralia City Council has agreed to accept Christmas decorations valued at $29,000 and be responsible for their installation each Christmas Season.

The displays are enough for 36 poles and for a Christmas Tree to be placed at the Broadway and Locust Street intersection that used to be an annual tradition.

The Christmas Decorations were contributed by the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce, Centralia Foundation, Shannon Cooney of the Crooked Creek Winery Downtown, and Wes Monken of Monken Automotive.

Some of the decorations are yet to arrive, but all should be ready to put up shortly.   The goal is to have city crews have them in place for the Friday Christmas Stroll.

The council approved the city seeking bids for electric supply to city-owned facilities through AGE.   AGE is planning to begin looking at solar opportunities for the city that could result in substantial electrical savings.

Gonzalez Companies LLC will perform preliminary engineering and engineering inspection services for the 2023 motor fuel tax street maintenance program.

Two businesses will receive disbursements for property taxes paid into Tax Increment Financing districts agreed upon as incentives for the businesses to locate new facilities in Centralia.  The Villas at Centralia Heritage Woods will receive $23,000 and Country Bob, Inc. $36,704.
