Police: Flowery Branch woman shot in dispute over barking dogs

The suspect in Tuesday morning’s shooting on Chattahoochee Street in Flowery Branch faces a list of charges.

Fonda Spratt, 56, is charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, two counts of aggravated assault, home invasion, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, an 8:30 p.m. update from Flowery Branch Police Department states.

Police say Spratt allegedly entered the victim’s home and confronted her about barking dogs before presenting a gun and shooting toward her multiple times.

When officers arrived, they found the injured woman standing in the road with multiple gunshot wounds, the update states. Responding officers implemented lifesaving measures for two gunshot wounds by utilizing a tourniquet on the victim.

The last known condition of the victim is that she was in stable condition undergoing treatment for her wounds.

The shooting was reported just after 11:30 a.m.

“This is incredibly unfortunate and could have ended in catastrophic results,” said Police Chief Christopher Hulsey. “There could have been more innocent individuals injured or killed. I am proud of the quick response time and sound decision-making of our officers and thankful that this incident was not worse.”

Hulsey expressed appreciation to Oakwood Police Department and Hall County Sheriff's Office for those agencies’ response and assistance.

Police said additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
