Santa Train returning to the Wabash Valley

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Here comes Santa Claus, along with Mrs. Claus, riding on a train!

Indiana Rail Road has announced the schedule for this year’s annual Santa Train, as the event returns to its traditional format following changes made due to the pandemic in past years.

The Santa Train will be making a total of 12 stops over three days as it travels through the area. Guests are invited to come aboard the festively decorated train to see both Santa and Mrs. Claus. A cast of costumed characters will be aboard the stationary passenger cars to great guests as well.

The free event is open to all ages. Santa’s helpers will also be giving away coats, hats, and gloves to help children in need prepare for winter weather. While most stops will invite visitors aboard the train, the Bargersville stop will instead see Santa make his way to the town hall to meet with visitors.

The Santa Train has been running since 1989, with only 2020 being canceled. 2021’s Santa Train was in a modified form.

“Volunteers and guests alike are looking forward to a more traditional format of Santa Train,” Indiana Rail Road Company President and CEO Dewayne Swindall said. “Giving back to the communities in which we operate in such a unique way brings a distinctive joy to our team during the holiday season.”

The Santa Train schedule is as follows:

Friday, Dec. 2

Saturday, Dec. 3

Sunday, Dec. 4
