CROWN POINT (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Students at Northwest Indiana’s Crown Point Community School Corp. returned to school today, a day after classes were canceled due to an investigation of the district’s internet network.

Supt. Todd Terrill informed parents via email on that classes would resume Tuesday. The district had canceled classes Monday because its internet network may have been compromised during an outage last week.

The superintendent announced that students could bring and operate their district-issued Chromebooks in the school, reassuring that the Chromebooks were not affected by the last week’s network outage and internal safety controls are installed in the devices. Terrill also insisted that students not use any personal devices on the district Wifi.

The inquiry regarding the possible internet security breach remains ongoing, the superintendent said.
