FHP investigating after body found in Turnpike canal

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – State troopers are investigating after a worker found the body of a male floating in a canal off Florida’s Turnpike in Broward County Tuesday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Indiana Miranda said the fiber-optic worker located his body at around 8:35 a.m. in the canal, alongside the Turnpike’s northbound lanes near Coconut Creek Parkway.

Miranda said investigators believe the body had been in the canal for at least two days.

Authorities said they don’t know how old the person was, describing him as a “white male.”

Officials haven’t said whether they suspect foul play.
