The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Billy Sweezey to the Cleveland Monsters, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Sweezey, 26, was recalled by Columbus on November 19, but did not appear in a game with the Blue Jackets. He has registered four goals and 16 assists for 20 points with 162 penalty minutes, 90 shots and a cumulative +4 plus/minus rating in 106 career AHL games with the Monsters and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins since making his professional debut in 2020-21. At the time of his recall, he was tied for the team lead in penalty minutes having collected 0-5-5, 22 PIM and 14 shots in 14 contests. In 2021-22, he ranked 13th-T in the AHL in penalty minutes and set career highs with 4-7-11 and 114 PIM in 70 contests with the Monsters.
