Judi Robinson, (Judith Pauline Jeffers), 77, Crawfordsville, born to William H. and Beatrice Pauline (Brading) Jeffers on Sept. 29, 1945, in Clinton Hospital. With Dennis, lovingly by her side, Judi went to be in the arms of Jesus on Feb. 4, 2023, after a hard fight following heart surgery in December.

Noted entomologist to speak at Wabash
Wabash College will host one of the nation’s foremost ecologists and conservationists when Dr. Douglas Tallamy visits campus as part of the President’s Distinguished Speaker Series. Tallamy will give a talk entitled, “Nature’s Best Hope,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Salter Hall of the Fine Arts Center.

Montgomery County Council on Aging
Ten members of the Montgomery County Council on Aging met Jan. 11 at Fusion 54 and via Zoom for their monthly meeting. December minutes were read and approved, and the treasurer’s report was then presented. One highlight of the treasurer’s report included the disbursements to three 2022 year-end grant recipients in Montgomery County whose organizations provide care services for seniors in our community. Those recipients are Crawfordsville Fire Department’s Paramedicine Program for their newfalls prevention initiative; the Montgomery County Free Clinic for senior dental services; and the Lafayette Honor Flight in support of our local veterans.

Girls Swim Sectional: Athenians send five to state, place 2nd overall
Too young. Not enough depth. Those are two of the excuses that Crawfordsville girls swimming could’ve used for themselves this season. Instead Cville went out and showed everyone that they weren’t going to mess around. Saturday at Crawfordsville High School the Athenians battled the Western Boone Stars down to the wire for the sectional team title. WeBo ended up edging out the Athenians 360-341, but it was still a very successful day for CHS as they will send five to Friday’s IHSAA Girls Swim State Finals at the IUPUI Natatorium.

Cornelius signs with Wildcats to continue football career
Southmont senior Kion Cornelius was a key figure for the stout Southmont defense this past season. Not afraid of anything he helped anchor the Mountie secondary and returned punts and kick-offs. He led the team with three picks this past fall. His breakout senior season caught the attention of many colleges. Last Friday Cornelius made it official as he signed with Indiana Wesleyan to continue his football and academic career.
