John Nichols to address Jefferson County Democratic party during celebration of activism

The Jefferson County Democratic Party has announced that it will be hosting a “thank you” celebration for a year of “activism and service,” according to a news release. 

The party will be hosting a reception, titled: “Forward Together,” which will serve to thank volunteers. 

The event is free and open to the public. 

The event will be held at the Fort Atkinson Club Community Center, 211 S. Water St., East, Fort Atkinson, Sunday, Dec. 4, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Complimentary appetizers will be served. 

During the event, guest speaker John Nichols will be on hand to address the group. 

According to the release, Nichols is a contributing writer with Madison-based “The Progressive Magazine.”  

According to his wikipedia.org profile, Nichols is a liberal and progressive American journalist and author. He is the national affairs correspondent for “The Nation,” and associate editor of “The Capital Times.” He is also a co-author of several books, including: “The Genius of Impeachment” and “The Death and Life of American Journalism.”  

Nichols grew up in Union Grove, and holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. He holds a master’s degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. 

Those attending the event are asked to bring a personal care product to donate to a local family support center.
