THE HIGH WIND WARNINGS ARE THE WEST CENTRAL, HIGH TERRAIN. THE MOUNTAINS WEST OF T OR C AROUND SILVER CITY. AND THE SONGWRITER CRYSTALS, THE ESTANCIA VALLEY, ALBUQUERQUE’S EAST MOUNTAINS, THE SACRAMENTO IS ALL GOING UNDER HIGH WIND WARNINGS FOR POTENTIAL WIND, 65 TO 70 MILES PER HOUR. AND THE CORNER OF THE STATE WHERE THE STRONGEST WINDS COULD HIT, THAT WOULD BE THE GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS OF SOUTHWEST EDDY COUNTY NEAR CARLSBAD CAVERNS. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR WINDS THERE TO GUST TO 85 MILES PER HOUR. SO WE HAVE SOME SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE, POTENTIAL. AND YOU CAN SEE OVERNIGHT WIND STAY SWITCHED ON ON THE MOUNTAINS AND THEY COME UP QUICKLY OFF THE MOUNTAINS TOMORROW MORNING, MIDDAY, RIGHT AROUND NOON OR 1:00. THAT’S PROBABLY THE STRONGEST WIND HOUR. AND THEN WE HIT SUNSET TOMORROW EVENING. WINDS WILL START TO STEP DOWN IN STRENGTH. BUT BOY, IT IS GOING TO BE A ROUGH DAY. WE’RE REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT DAMAGE TO THOSE HOLIDAY DECORATIONS IN LIGHTS. I KNOW A LOT OF US SPENT A LOT OF TIME OVER THE LAST WEEKEND PUTTING THOSE UP, BLOWING DUST. Parts of western New Mexico are also included in the wind advisory in McKinley, Cibola, Socorro, and Catron counties. The National Weather Service says some widespread power outages are possible. Strong winds will make travel difficult for high profile vehicles due to crosswinds.
