Driver hurt after Rock Island Metra train collides with car

MIDLOTHIAN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Metra train’s collision with a car has left one person hurt.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m., at 149th and Pulaski, near the Midlothian Metra Station. The first inbound Rock Island Mainline Metra train of the morning struck a white, four-door sedan. Cause of the crash is under investigation. Only a driver was in the car at the time of the accident, that person was transported to Christ Hospital, Metra Spokesperson Michael Gillis said. Their condition is not known at this time. Nobody on board the train was injured.

Following the crash, both inbound and outbound trains were briefly stopped, while passengers were able to board the next scheduled train near Midlothian. At around 6:50 a.m.,Metra said Rock Island Mainline Track 1 and Track 2 had been restored, with minimal delays at Midlothian due to the crash investigation.
