The first-ever Christmas tree lighting will be held on the lawn outside of the old Courthouse on Friday, December 2nd from 5-7 p.m.
The ceremony will include performances by the Hixson High School Choir and the Chattanooga State Choir.
Special guests include Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as Buddy the Elf!
“The Courthouse lawn has been a place of gathering for our county for well over a century and we wanted to start a new tradition to gather together early in the Christmas season to light a community tree,” said Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp.
Festivities will start at 5:00 p.m. and the official program and the tree lighting begins at 5:45 p.m. with Mayor Wamp and Commission Chairman Chip Baker speaking.
In addition to musical performances, the event on the lawn of the Courthouse will include a Christmas movie on display, face painting, music, candy cane giveaways, and a food truck offering warm beverages.
“I’m very grateful to the dozens of county employees who have been involved in preparing the massive tree and planning this wonderful event to kickoff Christmastime in Hamilton County," said Mayor Wamp.
