Woman dead after crashing car into several trees along I-75 in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — A woman is dead after crashing her car into several trees along I-75 northbound at mile marker 110 in Collier County.

The crash happened around 6:06 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 56-year-old woman from Tampa was driving north on I-75 in the left lane when she traveled off the roadway and crashed into many trees.

She was pronounced deceased on scene.

The four passengers in the SUV, a 33-year-old woman, a 34-year-old woman, a 27-year-old man, and a 5-year-old boy, all sustained minor injuries and were brought to an area hospital.

Collier County deputies, as well as FHP troopers, were on scene all morning investigating the crash.

No further information has been released.

Which of course could also mean a driver of another vehicle using a cell phone could have caused this vehicle to crash. I'd say it's probably one or the other. There certainly is a huge problem with drivers texting and driving. It's awful.
