Porsche has again employed the surreal mind of Chris Labrooy to create another real-life version of his dreamlike Porsche 911 renderings by turning a classic 930 Turbo into a camel pool floatie for display at the Icons of Porsche Festival in Dubai.

This is the second of these crazy sculptures that Porsche has employed him to make in recent years, with last year's starring a swan instead. This "Safari Camel," as it's been dubbed, is the mashup of an inflatable camel pool floatie and what seems to be a 3.3 liter 930 Turbo. It was influenced by a CGI rendering Labrooy was previously commissioned by Porsche Middle East to create. You have to give Porsche some credit, not many automakers would turn some fever dreams like this into real-life art.

This year marked the second year of the Icons of Porsche festival. Last year was the first year for the event, and it was meant to be a first-of-its-kind car show in the Middle East. The company wanted to bring its community together in an event to celebrate all things Porsche, and because the region has become so important to the automaker in recent years, it became a smashing success. Last year the two-day event saw about 7,000 visitors, but this year the attendance was doubled, with over 15,000 people attending.

This year's event was titled 'Safari Edition,' celebrating the love for off-roading enthusiasts in the Middle East have cultivated over the years. This is why it was the perfect event to regionally premiere the new 911 Dakar and more conventional offerings like the 911 GT3 RS and 911 Sport Classic. Fans could go on rides in a Cayenne on an off-road track, along with appreciating restored first-generation Cayenne as a celebration of the vehicle's 20 years in the market.

The "Safari Camel" was the real showstopper, though, because who can't help but stare at something so outlandish and unique? In keeping with the theme, Porsche added a roof basket and some lovely leather straps to the sides of the floatie to ensure it wouldn't become separated during some spirited off-road driving. It's wonderfully absurd and almost makes no sense at all, but we're talking about it, so maybe there is something to it.

The event hosted some other famous classic Porsches like the 1986 Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar, the 1981 Porsche 911 C 5 (SC) San Remo, the 1981 Porsche 924 GTS Rallye, and the 1978 Porsche 911 SC Safari. It also showcased the harlequin Art Car by Sean Wotherspoon: a Taycan 4 Cross Turismo with multicolored panels and a cork interior.

If you haven't noticed, the company has been pushing art in recent years, especially with its Art of Dream campaign. This campaign sees different temporary art installations popping up worldwide to stir the imaginations of Porsche and art lovers alike. Fittingly, this is why the company has been employing Labrooy and his ethereal style. If you're in Miami, you can even see his newest installation, "Dream Big" until December third at the Perez Art Museum: it sees a real-life Porsche 911 Carrera 4S treated like a toy in the hands of a massive child. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you feel about the creatures, there are no camels involved with this one.
