FREMONT - The holiday season kicked off in Downtown Fremont last weekend with Santa Claus' arrival, the opening of Santa's House, and a community tree lighting event on Friday. This year's holiday theme for celebrations in Downtown Fremont is "Home Sweet Home, Christmas 2022."

On Saturday, the holiday festivities included Breakfast with Buddy, with kids sharing a meal with their favorite elf, and Small Business Saturday that promoted shopping at local businesses. A Candy Cane Lane Scavenger Hunt also was held.

Fremont's Community Holiday Tree Lighting was held downtown Friday, marking the start of the city's holiday festivities.

This coming Saturday there will be a Holiday Sip & Shop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. downtown, and the Holiday Parade steps off at 6 p.m.

Santa's House is open for the season from 5-7 p.m. Fridays through Dec. 16 and 1-3 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 17.
