Mary Sue Hanby Shoaff, 77, of Cumby passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs. Mary was born on July 19. 1945 in Dallas, TX to Raymond Hanby and Nona Rhoads Hanby. She married Jerry Franklin Shoaff on June 3, 1966 in Dallas, TX. Mary was a Licensed Vocational Nurse until her retirement. Her favorite thing to do was keeping up with children on Facebook, painting little houses & figurines and she loved bible study. She was a member of Calvary Chapel, Greenville.
Gary Baldwin
Gary Baldwin, 63, of Sulphur Springs, Texas passed away February 3, 2023 at Christus Hospital in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Gary was born June 27, 1959 in Hernando, MS to Raymond Eugene and Alice Pearl (Carpenter) Baldwin. Gary often referred to himself as an outlaw, but those who knew him or ever needed anything would tell you differently. Gary was always available with a listening ear and advice whenever anyone needed it. He always had a story to tell and a laugh to share and the word stranger was not in his vocabulary. He was always a hard worker and taught all his kids good work ethic. He spent the last sixteen years welding for Sulta Manufacturing Company. Gary’s memory will be honored in a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Jason Connor officiating.

Senior Center Line Dancing To Be Returning

Arkansas Fugitive Returned to Hopkins County
February 6, 2023 – Montorey Jamall Johnson was arrested in Hopkins County in the Summer of 2019. Johnson and another Arkansas resident were stopped on I-30 for a traffic violation. Inside the car was more than 4oz of marijuana but less then 5lbs. Johnson was in possession of a handgun. His bond totaled $7,000.

Nap Time at the Boat Ramp Gets Two Arrested
February 3, 2022 – At around 2AM, a Hopkins County Sheriff Deputy observed a white Nissan Rogue parked at the Lake Sulphur Springs south boat ramp on FM 2285.
