Feds sending $43M in grants to address road safety along Gulf Coast
The U.S. Department of Transportation is handing out $67 million in grants to Florida localities for projects meant to improve highway safety and cut down on fatalities. Of that money, $20 million will go to the city of Tampa, and $19.7 million will go to Hillsborough County for specific projects. Government entities in Manatee, Sarasota, Polk, Pinellas, Collier, Charlotte and Lee counties will receive planning grants ranging from $200,000 to $720,000. The city of Port Richey will get $160,000 to develop a comprehensive safety action plan.
