Erin E. Bradley, 33, of 11525 Oak St., Avondale, Lakeview, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs relating to a two-vehicle injury crash Saturday evening, Nov. 26.
As a result of the crash, the second driver, Wendy L. Garcia, 43, of Bellefontaine, and her passenger, her 1-year-old grandson, were transported by Rushcreek EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital. Garcia sustained serious injuries, and the 1-year-old was transported as a precautionary measure. The child was not injured and was released to other family members at the hospital.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Bradley was operating a westbound 2007 Honda Ridgeline on State Route 273 about 9:20 p.m. and failed to stop at the stop sign at U.S. Route 68 and continued into the intersection.
Garcia reportedly was operating a southbound 2015 Nissan Altima on U.S. 68 and struck the passenger side of the Bradley vehicle.
Upon deputies’ arrival on the scene, they assisted Garcia and the child with exiting the vehicle, which appeared to be smoking.
Bradley approached deputies and said she “didn’t know what happened” relating to the crash. She showed deputies minor abrasions sustained to her hand.
Deputies also noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her person and she stated she “had a couple drinks.”
The defendant did not submit to field sobriety tests nor a chemical breath test. She reportedly refused EMS assistance and medical treatment as well. Bradley was transported to the Logan County Jail. She also was cited for a stop sign violation and other charges are pending as well.
Inside Bradley’s vehicle, deputies observed an open can of beer on the floorboard.
Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene.
