COMMERCE DEPARTMENT WILL BEGIN ACCEPTING ONLINE APPLICATION ORGANIZATIONS NEED TO PRE-REGISTER BEFORE APPLYING. AND WHILE THAT ONLY TAKES 5 MINUTES, IT COULD TAKE TWO DAYS FOR A NONPROFIT TO BE APPROVED TO APPLY. THERE ARE A LOT OF REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY, INCLUDING YOU MUST BE A LOCAL. A501C3. AS WELL AS BE ABLE TO PROVE NEGATIVE FINANCIAL IMPACT DUE TO PANDEMIC. ORGANIZATIONS MUST ALSO BE NONPARTISAN. RECIPIENTS CAN INCLUDE THOSE WHO PROVIDE FOOD AND SHELTER OR ADDRESS AND PREVENT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OR HUMAN TRAFFICKING. MANY OF THE NONPROFITS WERE JUST HAPPENED TO PULL UP BY THEIR BOOTSTRAPS AND CUT COSTS CUT EMPLOYEE SERVICES AND AS THEY BEGIN TO RAMP BACK UP THESE DOLLARS ARE TO BE THERE TO ASSIST. The Oklahoma Department of Commerce announced nonprofits will now be able to apply for financial relief.Officials said the $25 million for nonprofit relief is needed because of the increased burden that was placed on nonprofits during the COVID-19 pandemic.Starting Dec. 1, the commerce department will begin accepting online applications. Organizations need to pre-register before applying, and while that registration takes five minutes, it could take two days for a nonprofit to be approved to apply.There are a lot of requirements to qualify, including that you must be local, a 501(c)(3), and be able to prove negative financial impact due to the pandemic. All organizations must also be nonpartisan.Potential recipients can include those who provide food and shelter or address and prevent domestic violence or human trafficking."Many of the nonprofits were just having to pull up by their bootstraps and cut costs, cut employees, cut services, and as they begin to ramp back up, these dollars are to be there to assist them," said Brent Kisling, Oklahoma Department of Commerce.Nonprofit groups can apply online here starting Thursday.
