CDL University students wonder what’s next after school closes suddenly

Many of them had already given CDL University money for classes

Students of CDL University are trying to get their commercial driver's license, got a shock Monday morning after the school closed suddenly. Many of them had already given CDL University money for classes. CDL University filed for bankruptcy back in June but was still taking tuition money even last week until students arrived Monday morning and realized it was permanently closed."I actually was driving to where we go to practice, and I see the school on the left side of the highway, and I noticed the gate was closed. Then I end up going to the school and I actually see the sign on the door," a student said, who wished to remain anonymous. The shock of that sign came just months after a bankruptcy filing that students weren't aware of. KOCO 5 spoke with a court-appointed trustee on the company’s bankruptcy filing who said there's another hearing on the bankruptcy next week. He said it stems from unpaid federal taxes.Students said they should have seen it coming."From the beginning, we knew something was wrong. Me and my brother-in-law actually went there together. And actually, from day one, it wasn’t right," the anonymous student said. Now, they're reaching dead ends in trying to get their money back and get their CDL."I gave them $5,200 and I was promised this and that, and we didn’t get none of the stuff we supposed to get," the anonymous student said.Another company called American Truck Training is stepping up to help."If they can provide us with a notarized receipt or a receipt that CDL University does say that they paid $2,500 down, then we’re deducting that $2,500 from our price. We’ve had over 30 calls since this morning but we actually have 15 people that I’m looking up their hours if they’re already enrolled. Six people today will be starting next Monday," said Krystal Eaves, from American Truck Training. Earlier on Monday, KOCO 5 tried calling the business but the phone lines were down. When we looked at their website later on Monday, it was locked and in maintenance mode.
