Nebraska troopers arrest 26 drunk drivers over Thanksgiving weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol says troopers arrested 26 drunk drivers over Thanksgiving weekend.

The national Click it or Ticket campaign ran from Wednesday to Sunday, encompassing some of the busiest travel days of the year.

Law enforcement was on high alert, and along with the arrests of 26 impaired drivers, the patrol reported the following statistics on citations issued:

  • Speeding, 447 (21 citations for drivers going over 100 mph)
  • Open alcohol container, 14
  • Driving under suspension, 21
  • No proof of insurance, 22
  • Minor in possession of alcohol, 8
  • No seat belt, 7
  • Improper child restraint, 9

The patrol said troopers also assisted 168 motorists in need of help on the roadway.
