Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Keep an eye on Eagles WR A.J. Brown this week

A.J. Brown didn’t have a monster game against the Packers, but he sure looked the part. Brown was recovering from a stomach bug that left him seven pounds lighter with a bright red eye from a ruptured blood vessel.

Brown didn’t play poorly. His four catches for 46 yards were four less than Devonta Smith had to lead the team. He also scored a touchdown, but not before losing a fumble for the second straight game. All things considered, Brown really hasn’t had a November to remember.

After a feverish three-touchdown performance against the Steelers back in October, Brown’s numbers have been anemic. In his last three games, he has just 10 catches for 113 yards. To put that in perspective, Brown had 20 catches for 309 yards in his first three games of the season.

Before being traded to the Eagles, Brown had healthy numbers with the Tennessee Titans. His 2,995 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns earned him a Pro Bowl appearance in 2020 and a four-year, $100M contract with the Eagles two years later.

Those numbers were too rich for the Titans’ blood, so they sent Brown to Philly in exchange for a first-round pick. They drafted Treylon Burks to replace Brown and haven’t looked back.

After missing time with a foot injury, Burks has outplayed Brown. He has 181 yards receiving in his last two games with a 51-yard catch in each. Titans fans believe they have the better receiver, but Brown could look to prove a point against his old team.

Assuming he’s healthy, Brown could get well against a defense giving up the fourth-most passing yards in the NFL. He’s still Jalen Hurts’ favorite target and coach Nick Sirianni is pretty good about keeping his players happy.

Brown has seen double-digit targets only three times all year. That should change on Sunday. Eagles fans would love to see Brown get going against Tennessee. A visit from his old team, and their favorite new receiver, could be just what the doctor ordered.
