Hedingham shooting survivor prepares for surgery, continues to undergo therapy

RALEIGH, N.C. — One of the survivors of the Raleigh mass shooting is back up and walking.
An update got posted Monday on the GoFundMe page for Marcille "Lynn" Gardner.

"She has been able to walk independently with a cane, which is a big cause for celebration,” the update read.

Garnder continues to work hard in therapy, the update states.

The post added Gardner is preparing for abdominal surgery on Tuesday. It asks for prayers as she gets ready for the procedure.

On Oct. 13, a 15-year-old gunman opened fire in the streets of the Hedingham neighborhood and on the Neuse River greenway, killing five people including his 16-year-old brother, James Thompson.

Gardner was shot outside the home of her friend, Nicole Connors.

Connors did not survive.
