2 people on the run after police chase, crash and drug bust in Clarksville
Phyllis Wicker was driving to the grocery store on Saturday night when she got roped into a crazy situation.
She was getting ready to turn right on Lewis and Clark Parkway when a car came out of nowhere and slammed into her Ford and another vehicle on Greentree Boulevard.
"It just happened so fast," Wicker told WLKY.
But little did she know, the driver who hit her was leading police on a high-speed chase at the time.
Clarksville Police say the chase started just before 6 p.m. when officers responded to a situation about a mile away on Byron Drive.
According to police, a man threatened to stab a girl. When officers arrived, the two of them got into a car and sped off.
While officers chased after them, the driver crashed into the two vehicles.
"It put a lot of people in danger," said Wicker. "I mean, we could've ended up dead."
Wicker was driving with her daughter and friend when the crash happened. They are sore, but thankful they were not hurt in the crash. Police say the three people in the other car that was hit have minor injuries.
But the chase didn't end at the crash site.
The suspect's car lost a tire in the intersection and eventually stopped at Lewis and Clark Parkway. That's where the man and girl got out and ran.
While running through the Home Depot parking lot down the road, police say the man dropped a bag with more than 200 grams of meth in it.
He managed to get away along with the girl, who police believe is underage.
Police are still looking for both of them.
The man is expected to face a long list of felony and misdemeanor charges.
Anyone with information about the incident or their whereabouts is asked to call the Clarksville Police Department at 812-288-7151.
