RALEIGH, N.C. — It's that time of year again - when starry-eyed kids and kids-at-heart write letters to Santa with their Christmas wishes attached.

If your family wants to make sure Santa gets your letter full of holiday dreams, Raleigh and Cary parks are helping deliveries reach the North Pole this holiday season.

In both Cary and Raleigh, kids will actually get a jolly response from Santa himself!

In Raleigh, you can mail a letter to Santa by filling out a template created on the City of Raleigh website:

  1. Your letter can be typed or handwritten, and templates will also be available at specific community centers around the city.
  2. Drop off your letter to Santa at special North Pole mailboxes at the community centers listed on the City of Raleigh website between Nov. 28 and Dec. 14.
  3. Pick up your responses from the North Pole on or after Dec. 16 at the same North Pole Post Office where you dropped off your letter.

In Cary, you can drop a letter to Santa off in the magical Christmas mailbox

The town of Cary has made special arrangements with the North Pole as well. The magical Santa Mailbox is a beloved tradition in downtown Cary, and this year it will appear at the old library site on Academy Street.
While visiting the Santa Mailbox, families can also enjoy seeing the giant Christmas tree and thousands of twinkling lights around downtown Cary. You can also visit the Cary Arts Center to see the winning gingerbread houses from the Heart of the Holidays competition, and walk up and down Academy Street to look at the collection Christmas trees decorated by local organizations and residents.

The mailbox will be on-site from Nov. 21 to Dec. 11.

Include your child's name and return address on each letter, and your child will hear back from our jolly friend in red!

Want to visit Santa in-person?

WRAL News has spoken to Santa to find out many of the places he plans to appear around the Triangle. We've got a whole list for you here, so you can find him easily and give him your Christmas list in-person!
And if you ever wondered what kids across the generations have put on their Christmas list, we've got vintage Letters to Santa dating back to the 1930s -- real letters dropped off by Raleigh kids, asking for everything from candy to fruit to galoshes. Back then, kids brought letters to Santa to Briggs Hardware on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh.
